Master thesis: Wi-Fi transmitter based on an RF DAC
Are you ready to start your Master's thesis in electrical engineering in Spring 2025?
Are you curious about what we offer?
Below you can see some examples of parts that could be included in the thesis work
- Literature study of radiofrequency (RF) digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) architectures used in all-digital transmitter applications and determine an architecture suitable for a Wi-Fi transmitter
- Propose a novel solution for a Wi-Fi transmitter based on an RF DACs that uses significantly less silicon area but maintains similar or better analogue/RF performance metrics than prior art
- Determine specifications the RF DAC building blocks and develop a prototype circuit in 22nm technology
- Schematic and layout design with post layout performance verification. Key challenges such as process, voltage and temperature variations as well as mismatches between building blocks are issues that will be addressed during the design phase
- Documentation of the results and comparison with state-of the-art solutions

About Nordic Semiconductor
Nordic Semiconductor is a Norwegian fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless communication technology that powers the Internet of Things (IoT). Nordic was established in 1983 and has about 1400 employees across the globe. Our award-winning Bluetooth Low Energy solutions pioneered ultra-low power wireless, making us the global market leader. Our technology range was later supplemented by ANT+, Thread and Zigbee, and in 2018 we launched our low power, compact LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular IoT solutions to extend the penetration of the IoT. The Nordic portfolio was further complemented by Wi-Fi technology in 2021.
